    Relay diagram

    I just need a relay diagram for my 01 A4, here's a picture:

I doubt you need a diagram that shows what all those do. What do you really need? IE: What is your problem? Let us help you.

    Sigh...

    Oh, alright:

I do believe the last diagram is incorrect and the A/C clutch relay is the little guy in position number 1.

Also, you have some SPLAININ' to do about that red wire that is tapped onto the 75x post with no fuse. You do realize that is completely unfused all the way to the battery? That puppy rubs and shorts against that metal bracket that it is *touching in that very photo* and your dashboard will catch fire. Your car will burn to the ground. Well, maybe not completely to the ground. The fire department may be able to save your tail lights or something.

Yeah, 267 is the A/C compressor relay. I think the Bentley says something about it going in any open spot. Mine was also in position 1.

That's the power wire to illuminate my boost gauge, I was looking to relocate it as the previous owner put it there. I'll move it to the fuse box.

That's a good explanation. Blame everything on the PO, that's what I do. ;)

You can safely get power there, so long as you have a fuse in-line - as close as practical to the terminal.

Blame every single problem on the PO. Now that I think of it though, the PO bought it modded how it is right now, he wasn't a car guy. The guy before the PO did everything to it.

I always blame everything on the previous previous owner! So that would be Audi in my case!

Completely unrelated, but since you're here, walky.... when I roll my windows all the way up or down, when I let my finger off the switch, my RPMs jump for a second- at idle of course. Not really sure what the problem is...

Happens to me too. I have a feeling either a. its my battery that's quite old, must be replaced before cold weather or b. alternator? not sure really but it does annoy

When you load the window motor like that, the amp draw spikes significantly. Momentary blip in the idle is expected. If the change is excessive, I would make sure the battery and alternator are up to spec (load test each with VAT-40).

The idle could also be overly sensitive due to mixture problems, vacuum leaks, incorrect timing, etc. Where it's already working overtime to smooth it out and load changes throw it for a loop.

I would venture to guess there is nothing wrong with your car. Scratch, that - there's probably tons of crap wrong with your car. But the symptom you describe is likely a non-issue.

It probably jumps a good 150 rpm. I've never had a car do this before, and I've owned quite a few...

How do I load test the battery and alternator? I've never done that before and I don't know what VAT-40 is.

Walkys point about an already existing issue is likely for me. I am very certain I have some sort of vacuum leak in the system, all the more reason to get on top of it.

I'm sure I probably do too but I don't know how to check that either. Never have needed to.

There are some pretty nifty DIYs on Youtube for performing smoke tests on the vacuum system if you're interested.
